iPad rivals?
1. HP Slate
The HP Slate coming later this year will have windows 7 installed as its operating system, so users will be able to run any program that works with windows. This offers graphic designers the chance to have programs like Photoshop and be able to directly interact with the image. It will also come with Kindle e-book reader which is similar to Apples book store app. It’s rumored to start at around $550(£356) in the us.
2. Google’s tablet
It hasn’t been announced yet but Google have already released the Nexus One to rival the iPhone. Eric Schmidt, Google’s chief executive said his company had been working with several hardware manufacturers and hoped to make its Android Marketplace available on other slate-like devices. Google would most likely partner with HTC who helped produce the Nexus One.
3. Archos 9 tablet
This tablet also runs Windows 7 so we get the same advantages as before. The Archos supports HD video playback, has a webcam for Skype and is compatible with flash(something Apple haven’t done as yet). It has a 8.9″ touch screen, 1GB ram, 60GB hard drive and is yours for around £400
